Between 2011 and 2012 I’ve worked on a small design project for a travel community. They wanted me to design a logo and some related graphics for their web portal.

I’ve started with a bunch of scribbles and small idea sketches like always and later developed some of them in different graphical styles. There were always some new ideas and comments added during the process.

As for the logo the colors and the basic idea was given. I’ve just played around with a lot of different smile and letter combinations.

Later I did different facial expressions for the earth to be used in some spots on the web portal.

Somehow at first I did not like the idea of the smiling world at all but while I was doing the expressions I somehow came to like it. 😀

One of the later tasks was to create some default user images for the profile pages. I first did also some grandma and grandpa pics but we then agreed that the elderly would not feel flattered by those images. 👿

All in all the project was quite interesting and I’ve learned to work inside a limited range of possibilities especially with the small color range given.
